(Assistant Makeup Editor )
Hello gorgeous beauties!

Indian drugstore brands these days have hiked their prices to unimaginable extent; but if in such situations, a renowned brand like Lakme launches a new range which is acceptable by the budget norms—we are super excited and heading straight to the stores to see them! 😀
Remember those crayons like lip colours which Lakme launched last year under the name Pop Tints with the boring black packaging? Yes, these lakme absolute lip pout range looked somewhat similar to me except that these had colour coded tubes and the S.A claimed that these had improved formula and stayed put for a good whole day!
So here we bring in front of you all of the 6 Lip Pout shades launched recently under the Lakme Absolute range and we hope you find these as exciting as we did!
What Lakme has to say about it?
Inspired by all things playful, this launch will be brought to life by Lakme’s new range of vivacious lip colours, presented in a crayon format, to bring out the playfulness in you! This new range of six bright, matte lip-colours and ten creme shades will add the magic of high definition lips to your look. Price: Rs 650 for 3.5 grams
These lip colours are basically lip crayons with twist up mechanism. Period. The packaging is neither too exciting nor too boring—the colour coded tubes makes the lip pout range look really colourful and it will definitely look cute sitting in your makeup stash. The tubes have caps in a dull silver colour which shuts quite tightly—at least the testers did. On the tube are details written in white which looks classy. All in all the packaging is quite good and not boring.
Going by what the sales assistant claimed, the lipstick had stayed on for her since 11 am in the morning 9and i went to the shop well after 7 pm). I even asked if she needed a touch up after meals, and like a good S.A will answer-she denied and said that the improved formula made the lippie stay put sans any touch up even after meals. Though, I do not believe this. The staying may be good, but not as good as the S.A claimed to be! We’ll have to test them out to know more!
The lakme absolute lip pout range launched 6 matte shades which are all quite pretty but are narrow in terms of colour families. The shades only range in pinks, oranges and reds—no nudes or bolder shades in that case! Although all shades appear different, I find most of them to be quite similar and not too exciting.
Victorian Rose—this one shade was the most spectacular of the shades from the range and I personally loved it. The best subtle, peachy kind of rose pink, perfect for college going girls! The shade has some vivid red undertones to it which makes it a bold and not bright pink, but very wearable.
Tangerine Touch—the very mention of tangerine makes us imaging a bright tangy orange lippie! And that is exactly what tangerine touch is! A bright, peppy shade which is sure to brighten up the face almost immediately!
Starlet Red—not exactly a true red, but definitely a warm toned, deep red lip colour which is very apt if seen in accordance with the upcoming winter months. One of the deeper shades from the range, this one is worth a try if you are into deeper, bolder lip colours.
Raving Red—a red which is both wearable and bright, sumps up what exactly the shade raving red is. The shade has very vivid pink undertones which makes the colour look as if it a red based pink only. A very pretty, impactful shade!
Pink Fantasy—pink fantasy is a very girly, not-too-bright, but definitely a pretty colour. A medium rose-toned pink with quite vivid blue base, this shade will look the most flattering on fair-medium skin tones.
Magenta Magic—although he name says magenta, I find it to be a deep, burgundy pink with plum tones. A deep shade which will look very flattering in the upcoming fall season! But I personally find this shade a little tricky to wear, especially on younger women.
I personally, for one, was very happy that finally Lakme has launched a range well within 650 bucks. Happy dance for the fact that we now have a matte lip colour range which can be teemed as affordable looking at the prices of lipsticks these days. But unlike good-quality matte lipsticks, these are very dry and will look patchy on dry, flaky lips. These are the kind of lipsticks with which lip prepping is a must. Though using a lip balm underneath will solve the dryness issue, but it will at the same time become a hindrance for the matte effect.
But, all in the all the product seems to be nice, with a twist up pencil mechanism which means no product wastage. A worth trying product at this price! 🙂
