Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Cream Shadow Pencil
(Author ~ Sanchita )
Hello Gorgeous Ladies !
I was recently gifted few Wet n Wild products by a friend of mine. These drugstore brands are so good, it’s a shame that none of them are available in India at a large scale.
Now-a-days, fat chubby eyeshadow pencils are quite a craze among makeup lovers as they are easy to use, acts as both a primer and base for eyeshadow and also available in a number of shades. Personally, I love the creamy formula in them and quiet addicted as well. Today I am going to review the shade ‘Graphite’ from the Idol Eyes series.
Let’s get started with the detailed review of this pretty little thing.
PRICE – $4.80 for 3.2 g / 0.11 oz
MY REVIEW OF THE PRODUCT
Packaging – the packaging is of a fat and chubby wooden pencil which are relative small in height compared to the regular kajals in the market. It comes with a transparent cap from where you can easily see the shade. It is also color coded hence you won’t have to waste time looking for the shade you want in your kitty. The pencils ae non-retractable i.e. you have to use a sharpener but sadly that doesn’t come with it. Though little, but product are wasted during sharpening. Overall, decent packaging but nothing great to be talked about.
Shade – the name of the shade is totally apt. the color is truly a graphite color i.e. deep steel grey with micro shimmers. The shimmers truly make the shade look pretty. The color is great for creating dark-greyish smoky eyes and will suit every skin tone without looking ashy.
Texture – the texture is tremendously creamy which to a large extent works for a disadvantage. Although it glides on the eyelids like dreamy smooth, it has the tendency of creasing very badly. If you have hooded small eye, I would suggest you to avoid these are they tend to great messy. If you have oily lids, you better set it with a matte eyeshadow to prevent creasing. This works great for dry eyelids and hydrates it well.
Formula – due to the creamy texture, it is definitely not smudge proof but it is water proof. A little rubbing on the eyes can smudge the color if not set with an eyeshadow.
Pigmentation – the pigmentation is good. I require only 1-2swipes. It covers every blemishes, dark spots or pigmentation on the eyelids without changing the original color. Having said that, the color is unique and has its own beauty.
Staying power – staying power is a little tricky to describe. When worn alone, the color stays for around 1hour and then starts creasing very badly. The eye makeup becomes messy as well due to the creamy texture. However, when the same is worn as a grey primer or underneath an eyeshadow the staying power is around 45-6hours easily and then it starts creasing and fading slightly.
Packaging – sharpenable, decent and color codedShade – darkish steel grey with micro shimmers.
Texture – extremely creamy and creases.
Formula – waterproof but not smudge proof.
Pigmentation – very good as 1-2swipes are enough.
Staying power – when worn alone lasts for only 1 hour but as a primer or base it stays on for 5-6hours.
OVERALL – For the price, I really liked the eyeshadow pencil. It has good pigmentation and color choice. Only, the texture could have been slightly tighter to prevent excessive creasing. Otherwise, it is quite a budget friendly option for primer and base.
WHAT I LIKED
- Easy color-coded packaging.
- Beautiful steel grey color that suits every skin tone.
- Perfect for sultry smoky eye makeup.
- Creamy texture hence doesn’t feel dry on the lids.
- Very good pigmentation.
- Water poof.
- Staying power is better as primer and base i.e. around 5-6hours.
WHAT I DISLIKED
- Product wastage during sharpening.
- Too creamy texture and tends to excessive creasing.
- Not smudge proof.
- Staying power, when worn alone, is very bad.
- Not available in India.
RECOMMENDATION – I wouldn’t call this a must-have but the color has its own beauty. It goes as a good base for any kind of smoky eyes and quite a good if you can lay your hands on it.
Bnb RATING – 3/5
