My Experience

Packaging– So finally coming to the actual review! The powder which can be used both wet (for more coverage) and dry (as a setting powder) comes in a very average as well as cliche-compact powder kind of packaging! The powder comes with a see-through lid! Ok, so going into the details–the product has two stacks! The upper in which the compressed powder is snugly placed; and the lower stack has a very classy mirror as well as an enclosed sponge! One thing which really made me like the packaging aspect was that the sponge came in a separate encasement so there was no risk of the sponge being in constant contact with my product and contaminating it in any case. Anyhow, Apart from the facts that the product has an enclosed mirror and the available sponge works pretty well; there is nothing too great about the packaging! Call me old fashioned if you wish, but if I am paying almost 1300 bucks for a simple compact powder, I expect so much more than this! All in all, an average kind of packaging!

Shade– So the shade i have used and am reviewing today is 160 sand beige–which is one of the four (very limited) shades available! This particular shade has a very warm tone with prominent yellow undertones! Out of the four shades available, 160 sand beige is most probably the best match for quite a wide spectrum of indian skins! But if you want something more pink toned, like for brightening purposes–go for 225 Beige which has predominantly pink undertones and is a good match for indian skins!

Texture– The last thing I expected from a powder worth 1295 bucks is for it to have a talc like, or say chalky texture! No, I am not saying that the powder has a highly chalky or powdery texture; but yes, it is indeed a bit talc like! One thing which is really commendable about the product is that as it is extremely fine-milled, its bending power is par excellence! One more thing, the product is not very compactly pressed into the pan which leads to quite a bit of fallout from the pan if used with a brush!

Pigmentation and Coverage– Now here comes the commendable part! Coming to the basics, the powder can be used both wet and dry (as I mentioned earlier), and I have used it both ways! But I like it more when used as a complacent product to the Loreal Infallible 24 hour foundation (or any other liquid foundation in that case) instead of when used as a powder foundation with a wet sponge. The wet sponge application technique is said to give more coverage. As a setting powder, this powder worked amazingly! Upon swatching the powder on the hand, the product is highly pigmented but due to its excellent blending potential, it does not cake up and sit flat atop your makeup!

Staying power- on its own, I cannot really comment upon the staying power of the powder foundation! But as a setting powder, it really gives that smooth matte finish which lasts for a good 8-10 hours and even sets the foundation very nicely!
