Colorbar Velvet Matte lipstick – Oh my Magenta : Review, Swatches & LOTD
(Author ~ Sanchita )
Hello everyone.
Hope you are all doing well. End of March, I realized that I have too many neutral colors in my kitty and for summers I need bright pinks (yeah, I am on a pink-phase now). Well, I always go back to my favorite range – Colorbar Velvet Matte and picked up the shade Oh my Magenta. The store is lighting was seriously deceptive and in the hunt of ‘bright’ lipstick, I needed buying ‘too bright’ lipstick.
Nevertheless, the color is surely a pretty one if you know how to wear it and here is my detailed review on the product.
PRICE – 325 INR for 4.2 g
MY EXPERIENCE ?
PACKAGING – Wrapped in a pretty decent packaging, the Colorbar Velvet Matte lipstick comes in a silver colored bullet with transparent cap. The twist up packaging works extremely well and has the shade name written on the base. I have carried with this one most of the times and I found it to be sturdy and well made. The lipstick bullet is also shaped with proper precision for application. Overall, I would say a good packaging for a budge friendly lipstick.
SHADE – The shade is a bright fuchsia with deep strong purple undertones. The brightness of the color is what makes it stand out among others. I am more of a warm fair medium complexion and thus I feel the color clashes with my skin tone slightly when worn in broad daylight. Thus, I can only pull off the color during night where it doesn’t look very stark. I feel it would be an excellent choice for deeper skin tones and they can execute the shade well. However, if you are more of a bright-lip girl, you would love the shade.
TEXTURE AND FINISH – The texture and finish is something great for which I always go back to this range of lipsticks. It has a creamy smooth texture that glides on the lips with an ease without any tugging or pulling at all. It is very forgiving to my dry and chapped lips undoubtedly and I don’t feel the need to apply lip balm underneath. It keeps my lips hydrated till the end of the day which is something I love. However, the finish is satin matte (or velvet matte as they describe) and imparts no shine at all. It doesn’t settle into fine lines looking cakey. Further, it doesn’t bleed as well despite being a bright lip color.
PIGMENTATION – Being a deep and bright color, it has an amazing pigmentation. Single swipe gives a decent color pay off while double swipe offers complete color pay off, hiding every imperfections. Since I find the color too bright for my complexion in the daytime, I simply dab it light-handedly to wear it like a lip stain. The only downside is that it transfers a lot to cups and spoons but you can fix it with the help of tissue and translucent powder.
STAYING POWER – The staying power of the lipstick is around 4-5hours and can survive light snacks and drinks but it is not enough to survive heavy meals at all. Once is starts fading, it doesn’t look patchy at all and instead leaves a nice fuchsia tint to the lips I which surely a great one. Colorbar has slightly hiked the price range but I would still consider it as a good budget friendly range of lipsticks among the other ones.
OVERALL – A deep and bright fuchsia-purple color with rich texture, satin matte finish and great color pay off that makes it a great lipstick.

BnB Editor Shreya Says, “Colorbar has some good range of shades available. Although I like my neutral lipcolors, I do try such fun bright shades once a while. Its difficult to find a moisturising formula in matte shades. Lovely LOTD Sanchita”
