NEW L’Oréal Paris Kajal Magique Bold : Review, Swatches and EOTD

(AUTHOR ~ Sanchita)

Hello cupcakes!

Being a kohl fanatic, I just couldn’t stay away from the two newest kajals launched by L’Oréal Paris and Maybelline. Both of them looks quite a competitor themselves and I thought that it will be real fun to try these out. Who doesn’t like black, dark and bold kajal on their eyes?

For review today, I picked up the newly launched L’Oréal Paris Kajal Magique Bold. Let’s see how bold it is… 🙂

Packaging – The kajal comes in a black cardboard packaging with a smoking hot and bold makeup of Katrina Kaif (loved her look!). The kajal itself has lightweight black plastic body with gold accents of the brand name. It is retractable pencil and hence you won’t waste an ounce of it while sharpening. The cap shuts properly and the twist up function also works great. So, overall, I loved the basic black and gold accent packaging is great as well as travel friendly.

Shade I have used the L’Oréal Paris Kajal Magique and I have to admit it is indeed darker and also buildable. However, truth be told, I have seen darker kajal (Lotus Colorkick). So, in that way, Kajal Magique Bold scores slightly less than others.

Pigmentation The pigmentation is enriched and it gives a jet black, bold and saturated color. On the waterline, to bring out the intensity you have to go for more than 2-3swipes for sure but on the lids or lash line, a swipe or two is enough to bring out the boldness of it. For smoky eyes, this kajal works great when you are in a hurry.

Texture this is where it won my heart. It is surely the creamiest kajal I have come across. Having said that, you have to be careful while application. If you apply too much pressure on it, chances are that it break. Given the fact that it is summer, it is really soft. The rich and smooth texture glides on the eyes like a dream without any tugging or pulling and feels extremely gentle. I never experienced any kind of irritation or watery sensation on the eyes. Since I don’t wear contact lenses, I can’t comment how it works with that.

Formula – the formula, although creamy, doesn’t smudge or gives you a raccoon eyes at the end of the day for sure. It gives you enough time to work out on a blurred out smoky eye if you wish to create one and once it sets down, it doesn’t budge at all. The finish is semi-luster and not completely matte which is pretty good. It has the tendency to accumulate a bit at the corner of the eye at the end of the day. It is also waterproof and doesn’t get removed as well.

Staying power The staying power of the Kajal is around 8-9hours even in this scorching heat, which is commendable. It doesn’t smudge at all which is great. On the waterline, the staying power is slightly less and stays for 4-5hours after which is fades but doesn’t mess up the eye area. The removal is tough, just like any other long wearing kajal, and requires good eye makeup remover or almond oil to remove it completely.

Quantity and Value for money it gives 0.35gm which is similar than any retractable kajal. You won’t have to sharpen and hence the wastage is zero but still the quantity could have been slightly better. The value for money is good as long as you get slight discount but considering the whole price tag, it could have been slightly better.
