L’Oréal Paris Hair Expertise Oil Replacement Cream Review
(Author ~ Sanchita)
Hello Dolls! 🙂 Hope you all are doing well.
As you all are aware that dry hair always needs something extra as hydration apart from the usual shampoo coupled with conditioner, I prefer light weight serums and creams for my dry curly hair. The concept of oil in cream isn’t new as Garnier has previously launched in India some time back and now L’Oréal Paris has recently launched their version of hair cream which they have named as the “Oil Replacement Cream”. These work very easily on the hair without much residue or doesn’t weigh down the hair by making it look greasy. So let’s see how the Hair Expertise Oil Replacement Cream worked for me.
PRICE – 80 INR for 100 ml
Packaging – The L’Oréal Paris Hair Expertise Oil Replacement Cream comes in a gorgeously plushy golden ochre tube with a black flip open cap. The tube is extremely light weight and the cap just works perfectly as well. If I am going to travel, I am surely going to carry this along as it has no issues of spillage or mess at all. The outlet dispenses just the right amount of product without any wastage and overall, the packaging is hygienic as well. All in all, it has some very beautiful packaging for a budget friendly price range.
Smell and Consistency– The smell of this cream is a bit difficult to describe. It has the aroma of mixed essential oils and a trail of artificial floral whiff. As a whole, it smells heavenly the moment you apply on the hair and the hair smells just great. It will never hurt the nose as the smell is not overpowering at all. The consistency is of light whipped cream which a soft texture. It resembles so much to the whipped aloe vera cream I have used previously. Having said that, it is simply easy to apply and spread on the hair with the help of the palm. It takes hardly a minute or so to get absorbed by the tresses and brings a bout of softness to the hair.
Texture – the texture of the cream is truly non sticky and non-greasy. The moment you apply on the hair, it provides a slight hydration and softness to the curls of my hair and I also noticed a faint shine.
Results: The cream can be applied in three ways and here are my experience after application.
Overnight and Before Shampoo – The first and foremost complain I have is that it has no ingredient list mentioned. When you are unaware, I believe a lot of us will be skeptical in applying on the scalp as we don’t want a plethora of chemicals to be applied on the scalp, that too overnight. Given the list of ingredients, the cream isn’t oily so I believe some chemicals are surely involved. Nevertheless, I applied on my scalp and to the length of the hair so that I can wash the hair the next day. The cream spreads well on the scalp and doesn’t feel heavy at all. There is truly zero stickiness or greasy feeling and it is truly a blessing for the ones who hate heavy and thick oils. The results were same for both overnight and shampoo. When I washed the hair (my hair is generally dry if not deep conditioned with oil) felt as usual dry and rough and that’s when I realized it is not going to work on dry hair or curly hair as it lacks that sort of deep hydration which the hair requires.
After Shampoo – This is when the cream works the best. I switched this one with my regular hair serum after wash and it did wonders. Firstly, applied this on damp (not wet) hair (when the hair is 60-7% dry) and then simply take some amount and spread on the hair. It gets absorbed fast and simply comb to even it out. After my hair was completely dry, I noticed how soft and healthy my hair looked. The curls were defined and the frizz was gone. There was np oiliness or stick feel but the hydration was just right. The hair remains like that for 2 days even in summers. I also used this on my 3rd day dry hair to bring back the softness and lessen the frizz and it still worked.
OVERALL – The Oil Replacement Cream isn’t going to replace the good old oil if you have dry and rough hair but surely a great hair serum or leave-in-conditioner to soften the hair and bring back the shine. For the price, I am impressed with the results this one gave me.

WHAT I LIKED 🙂
- Beautiful packaging with golden tube and flip open cap.
- Smells heavenly.
- It has a very light weight consistency.
- Spreads well on the hair.
- Non greasy and non-sticky texture.
- Works great as a serum for dry and frizz hair.
- Keeps the hair controlled for around 2days in summer.
- If you hate heavy oils, you will love this.
- Hydrates the dry hair on 3rd and 4th
- Effectively price tag.
WHAT I DISLIKED 🙁
- Missing ingredient list.
- Won’t do much good for scalp.
- Not an oil replacement for dry hair for sure.
Final Verdict – If you are looking for a good serum/leave-in-conditioner for those dry, unmanageable frizzy hair for the hot and humid days with a fresh smell on the tresses, this is the pick for you. But the scalp treatment isn’t good enough for sure.
