Anastasia Liquid lipstick ‘Spicy’ review, swatches & FOTD

(Author~ Nidhi)

Hello everyone 🙂

I am back with the review of my first ever ABH (Anastasia Beverly Hills) Liquid Lipstick in shade ‘Spicy’. The brand doesn’t ship products to India and I got a chance to pick this new piece from a fellow blogger friend who was selling many other shades too. You can check out Instagram sellers who sell authentic cosmetic products and can pick a few International High end brands like ABH from them too.

So let’s read on about this very popular liquid lipstick from a popular brand.

Product Description (by the company): An intensely pigmented, cult-favorite liquid formula that delivers a rich, long-wearing matte look to lips. Use the flat sponge-tip applicator to apply Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick with precision for an unforgettable look. Full coverage with opaque color. Non-drying formula . Available in 33 shades

Price: 20$ or around 2000 INR

Availability: Instagram sellers

My Experience:

Shade: The brand describes the color ‘spicy’ as Paprika red. I see this shade as an orange color with brown undertones. It’s bright but still not a bold orange; it’s more of a wearable orange color that you can apply anytime of the day. Being matte makes it all the more wearable. The shade is warm toned and so will suit the Indian skin tones beautifully. This is a safe color and universally flattering too.

Texture: The liquid lipstick has a nice smooth texture that applies evenly and easily. It is highly pigmented and one swipe is just enough for a good color pay off. If you have pigmented lips or need a deeper color, reapply it without the fear of making it heavier/uncomfortable in feel.

It dries down in few seconds to a complete matte finish after which the color won’t budge/smear away. I am a fan of such liquid lipsticks that settle to matte finish and make you do away with the task of reapplying every 2-3 hours or after every snack/meal.

I won’t call it drying but lip exfoliation is needed before applying a matte lipstick like this.

Longevity: ABH liquid lipstick stay put for hours and hours together till you yourself remove it using some makeup remover. A normal cleanser won’t work in this case and oil based or any good remover (that can do away with your waterproof makeup too) must be used in removing every last trace of ABH spicy from lips. It survives light snacks easily and even a heavy full meal just lightens the color a bit but still I don’t find a need to reapply it again.

Packaging: The lipstick comes housed in a round transparent sturdy plastic pack with a metallic silver cap. The doe foot foam applicator works fairly well in applying the product in a single go. The packaging is pretty n travel friendly.

What I like 🙂

  • Great shade selection
  • Awesome staying power
  • Matte comfortable texture.
  • Highly pigmented
  • Survives light snacks and full meal too
  • Pretty packaging
  • Non drying
  • No bleeding/feathering of the color once set.

What I dislike 🙁

  • High price
  • Non availability easily in India.
  • Exfoliating the lips prior to application is necessary.

Overall, I just love this shade and the comfortable feel of the liquid lipstick. I love how hassle free your day becomes once you know that you need not check and re-do your lip color ever couple of hours. Price can be an issue but owing a luxurious brand is like ‘feather in your cap’ 😉 😛 .
Do check these beauties out. The wide shade selection holds 1 pretty color for every pretty lady out there.
