Garnier Skin Naturals Nourishing Cold Cream

(Author ~ Sanchita)

Last month I had visited Manali for a span of 5-6days and to my horror, I forgot my moisturizer. Now, a place with 2 degree temperature won’t hydrate your skin no matter how oily your skin is! I had to purchase a hydrating cream for a drugstore over there. They had the option of a baby cream and this Garnier one. Baby creams never suit my skin type so I had to go with this one.

Coming back to my city, I thought of reviewing on how this cream worked for me and whether I will repurchase it again in the coming winter or not.

PRICE – 67 INR for 18gms

The Garnier Skin Naturals Nourishing Cold Cream comes in various sizes. I purchased the smaller tub as I thought it would suffice me for a week or so. It is opaque green in color with every information penned down and the lid is off-white in color and has a screw system. Uncapping the screw lid, there is no separator to isolate the cream from the back of the lid. Personally, I prefer tube packaging over jar packaging as it is slightly unhygienic. Also, it becomes slightly tough to carry a spatula to scoop out the product. The tub is lightweight, easier to carry around and further encased inside a slim cardboard box.

The cream is off white is color and has a thicker texture. The consistency is just like a cold cream but somehow when you touch the cream is feels just like dipping your fingers in butter! The cream has an artificial scent in it and is very sweet. Sadly, it doesn’t lasts very long at all. It is extremely light weight and blends into the skin easily. Having said that, it is good for oily skin in winter. But the kind of harsh winter I was in, it was no cakewalk at all. The cream readily hydrated my skin and gave a layer of protection from dryness. It won’t make the skin look greasy, oily or dark, unlike other cold creams in the market. It blends into the skin very well and also great before applying makeup.

The Garnier Skin Naturals Nourishing Cold Cream doesn’t have any SPF at all which is a big con for me, at least in winter. This is why you have layer a sunscreen on your screen if you are going to use the cream during day time. It has been formulated with the goodness of 100% pure acacia honey, known for its hydro-fixating properties, to help maintain the skin’s moisture level. Since I was in a harsh cold climate, the skin lost its hydration within 5-6hours and I had to reapply it again and again to keep it nourished. Also, it is not rich and hydrating enough to survive the night and that is why it is a mild form of a cold cream.

The cream promises to be skin tightening and protecting against the pollution. Having used the cream, firstly I would infer that it never broke me out, even though I have acne prone skin. Secondly, since I am in my 20s, I can’t comment on skin tightening but surely the skin felt good – soft and supple after using it. I noticed no difference except for hydration. So I would say that this is a simple cold cream for winters – nothing brain storming. The cream is well suited for normal to oily skin in winters and for dry skin – it won’t survive harsh climatic conditions. The jar would last a month and hence if you are planning on using it for long, you can easily invest on a bigger pack. Price wise, it is an okay product and good for daily usage without shelling out big bucks.
